The Friends of Mill Road Cemetery hosted a fantastic event yesterday. Research on the cemetery’s war dead has been turned into moving monologues which were performed by Parkside Federation students.
The Salvation Army centre hosted an exhibition about the Great War and its effects in Cambridge, with displays from the Between the Lines project. Simon Cross, one of GSM’s volunteers, also presented a poster with his research about five men commemorated on GSM’s war memorial.
Finally, historian Nick Mansfield spoke about recruiting among working class people from the Mill Road area, focussing on the experiences of his own family.
Disappointed that you missed out? There’s one more chance to see the dramatic monologues and displays – this Sunday from 2.30-4.30.
