Just noticed that today is my one year anniversary at GSM – it has been so much fun and there’s still so much more to do.
Huge thanks to all the members of staff, volunteers and other helpers!
We have an exciting Elizabethan concert at Great St Mary’s on 6 September, in the run-up to our Elizabethan Pageant on Saturday the 13th.
The Passamezzo ensemble will be dressed in period costume and will perform music by Cavendish, Bennet, Greene, East, Johnson, Pilkington, Purcell and Robinson, and words by Breton, Herrick, Nashe and Shakespeare.
The special guest will be Queen Elizabeth I herself, on a recce for her official visit the following weekend as part of Heritage Open Days.
Tickets are available online through the ADC ticket store, by calling the ADC on 01223 300085, and will be on sale at the Great St Mary’s shop shortly.
Visitors can now create their own souvenirs with brass rubbing at Great St Mary’s.
Each of the five brasses has its own story, which is told on an information sheet you’ll receive with your rubbing. From a wealthy Cambridgeshire lady who died aged 25, to St George and the devil himself, there is something for everyone!
