Looking back on a summer of fun

Today Great St Mary’s hosted our last Summer at the Museums activity for 2015.

Over five fun-filled Mondays, we’ve taken over the church with mythical creature puppets, gruesome gargoyles and sticky-back plastic stained glass.

234 children visited us, along with 157 grown-ups, and fifteen fabulous volunteers helped them to sculpt, scribble and stick.

Each craft had its own activity sheet, which encouraged children to explore and gather inspiration in the church.

It has been fantastic to fill Great St Mary’s with happy children (and feathers, googly eyes and countless tiny bits of tissue paper…) every Monday.

We hope everyone enjoyed the summer, and we’re already looking forward to planning family craft activities for the next school holidays!

Huge thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund for making it all possible, to all our visitors and to our brilliant volunteers: Andrea, Catherine, Charlotte, Dorota, Fiona, Imogen, Isobel, James, Jane, Jasmine, Karen, Meriel, Minty, Nancy and Ros.
